where were you
Where were you when the RPG hit
When the rounds first started coming in
Where were you when the first attack came
When there was smoke and the fire and the din.
Where were you when the man arrived
With a vest that was strapped to his chest
Screaming 'Help Me, Help Me, Oh Allah help me'
That poor man under duress.
Where were you when the mortars rained down
When they landed amongst my friends
When all you find is the body parts
It just drives you round the bend.
Where were you at the VCP
When the car it drove right through
Where were you when the same car stopped
And the driver it's explosives blew.
Where were you when the plane came home
When the plane came home with our friends
In boxes draped with our country's flags
Were you there to make amends.
I'm not saying your choices are easy
I'm not saying your decisions are wrong
I just want you to show our Forces respect
To show that we all will stand strong.
It's not easy to make a decision
To send men into harms way
But at least when the harm they face rings true
You should visit the families that day.
You sent out their sons and their daughters
Their fathers, their friends into fire
Some paid the price for your actions
The consequences they find are dire.
So visit the family of the fallen
Visit and show your remorse
Don't leave it to sound bites from Parliament
Unless you're a coward of course.
